'TOP 11 of 2011'... to LIVE FOR ...

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give a mini review and description of all my favorite/most used products of 2011.. hope you enjoy!!

TOP 11 of 2011

Revlon Colorstay Foundation... I continue to go back to this foundation no matter what else I try. I never wear this on it's own, as I find it a bit heavy looking then, but I mix it with literally everything: NARS Sheer Glow, MAC Studio Fix Fluid, MUFE HD... I mainly add Colorstay to tweak the color of the other foundation, and to add a some more coverage. Not to mention the price is awesome! Around $10-12 here in the U.S. =)

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer... I don't know how many concealers I have tried in my makeup lifetime. Far too many!! I'm on my third pot, which is unheard of. This concealer doesn't settle into fine lines, doesn't cause flash-back (which is basically like death to me), covers my terrible dark circles, and lasts for about 6 hours I'd say before I feel the need to touch it up.

top: Dior Shimmer Powder in Amber Diamond
bottom (left to right): MAC Blunt, MAC Well Dressed, Well Dressed & Gingerly blended in the middle,  MAC Gingerly

MAC Powder Blush in Blunt... This is my all-time favorite contour. It's described as a "muted golden brown" (matte finish) and is the perfect shade of brown in between having a red base and a yellow base. Basically it doesn't make my skin look muddy, or orange, or sunburned. Score! haha

MAC Powder Blush in Well Dressed and Gingerly... My most worn blush is a combination of Well Dressed, which is a light cooler toned pink (satin finish), and Gingerly, described as "Capri bronze" (sheertone) which is obviously a warmer toned ginger color. Why I mix the two I have no idea. But I do. And I like it.

Dior Shimmer Powder in Amber Diamond... I've talked about this before so I won't go into why this is such a beautiful highlighter. It just speaks for itself.

left to right: Wet 'n Wild Liquid Eyeliner, MAC eye shadow in Vanilla, Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in #14

MAC Eye Shadow in Vanilla... I wear this eye shadow every single day without fail. It's the best brow highlight in the world. Seriously! Vanilla has just the right amount of pigmentation and is just the right shade of ivory. No porn star shimmer highlight here =) unless you like that look, then try Filament ;)

Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #14... I just love this reddish brown color. The MUFE Aqua Creams are waterproof so it stays on all day. Perfect!

Wet 'n Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner (shown in 868 Brown)... This liner is so quick and easy to use. I will caution you that it has a brush applicator, as some people find them hard to use, but I quite like it. This isn't waterproof so it comes off easily when you wash your face, but it doesn't rub off during the day.
P.S. I HATE the waterproof version of this eyeliner!!!!!!!!!

YSL Faux Cils Mascara... Through my orders at Sephora I have collected about seven samples of this mascara and have been using them for the past 3 months. I'm definitely happy with this mascara! I have long, pretty thick lashes to begin with so I may not be the best person to review mascaras... but I like Faux Cils. It  makes my lashes look voluminous without looking clumpy.

MAC 109 Small Contour Brush... This is my favorite face brush ever!! You can use this for blush, highlight, contour, whatever! I'm currently using it to apply my contour. The size of the brush fits perfectly in the hollow of my cheeks, and it's dense enough to really buff out my contour and make it look natural.

Urban Decay all nighter Makeup Setting Spray... Again, I have talked about this product before and won't get into details. It's one of my HG products and I will never go without it!!!

So, what were your favorites of the year?! If you have done a post like this feel free to link it below!

  1. Great picks! I heard that Wet n' Wild makes an excellent gel liner as well. I haven't tried it yet since I have a bunch I'm working through, but I definitely want to try it out.

    1. I've tried their gel liner too, actually I think it was the first gel liner I ever tried! It's nice if you like a sort of thicker gel.. I find it a bit harder to work with than MAC fluidline (which is my fav) or Clinique which is really nice and creamy.

However, for the great price it's definitely worth trying!!

    1. haha I know what you mean!!

I got Amber Diamond as a Christmas present in 2010 and it still remains my favorite to this day :) It was the first Dior product I ever owned and let me tell you, it's worth the hefty price tag!
